Is Calgary really one of the only major cities in Canada that does not allow secondary suites?

No, this statement is often reported in the media, but it is not true. Calgary does have areas were secondary suites are a permitted use, but just not in every property in the city.

The most recent figures available to us show that there were 123,071 properties where suites would be allowed versus 141,356 where they are not allowed.
